The Spirit

Superbly beautiful movie, though doesn't quite have the charms of Sin City.

Synopsis

Down these mean streets a man must come. A hero born, murdered, and born again. When a Rookie cop named Denny Colt returns from the beyond as The Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face who has other plans. He's going to wipe out the entire city. The Spirit tracks this cold hearted killer from the city's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill the masked crusader

Starring: Gabriel Macht, Eva Mendes, Samuel L. Jackson, and Scarlett Johansson. Directed by: Frank Miller

Fantasy take

Perhaps not so much a fantasy movie as a romance, but the graphics will denote a fantasy feel to the movie...

Storyline: 3 Stars

Quite a good storyline being from a graphic novel, though I found it quite tedious throughout...

Graphics: 5 Stars

Absolutely beautiful graphics! Completely uncomparable... if you're really into proper graphic movies, this is certainly the movie for you!

Acting: 2 Stars

The cast was superb, though I believe their performance was slightly dwarfed through the inexperience of the director.

Emotions: 2 Stars

Yeah it was a love movie, but I didn't really have enough time to get to know and feel for the characters, so a lot of very emotional moments were lost, because I just plain didn't care about the characters...

Action: 2 Stars

As with all good comic book movies, this movie has a great fight scene at the end! But I thought there just wasn't enough action in the movie... My suggestions would have been to get rid of the PG-13 rating and fill it with loads of violence and gore!

Conclusion

It really is a beautiful movie (the below being an example), but it just wasn't Sin City!

I thought it looked way too much like Sin City. I might watch it after it comes out on DVD, but I've never been into The Spirit, so all the other great movies that were out this month kind of took over as far as what I decided to go see.
