Following on from my previous post (A review of 2008) customarily I will endeavor to give my readers an idea of what to expect in the movie world in the year coming up: 2009.
Starting on New Years day, Frank Miller released his visual epic: The Spirit (to be reviewed in time) following the legends of Sin City and 300.
A couple weeks after Will Smith will be back with drama movie: Seven Pounds.
In March we will have perhaps Marvel's most marvelous superhero movie of all time: The spectacular Watchmen!
Along with the Watchmen, Fox will be realeasing their X-Men prequel: Wolverine, also looking like quite a visual festival.
More than that, we've got the 6th installment of Harry Potter: The Half-Blood Prince, expected to be the huge movie of next year!
Johnny Depp will also be returning in Public Enemies, and with Heath Ledger in Terry Gilliam's next movie: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
For horror fans, a movie to look out for will be Kevin Costner and Ivana Baquero's "The New Daughter" looks like it's going to do extremely well even though so very little heard of at this present time.
In the Autumn/Fall we have the 4th installment of Terminator: Terminator Salvation... also looks like it's going to be very visually elaborate, and expected to be one of the huge movies of the year.
For Foreign cinema... I'm personally looking forward to The Anarchist's Wife, which looks like it's going to be a very interesting movie, though I know nothing about any of the people taking part except for young actress Ivana Baquero... Trailer looks really good anyway...
So only time can tell whether these movies will come up with the goods... and I wonder whether there will be some unkown movie that will shine above the rest...
Happy New Year to all!
