2 More Movies on Del Toro's To-Do List

Bloody Disgusting brings us news that Guillermo Del Toro has yet another 2 movies in the works.

One will be an adaptation on Gris Grimly's Pinocchio, working closely with him on that. The movie will be using puppets which will be from the Jim Henson Company, so it looks like quite an elaborate movie... I have never read the book, but as I understand, it's much darker than the Disney Pinocchio, and when Pinocchio becomes real, he becomes bad instead of good. But the story also has a lot of room for the thinkers, as Del Toro will be discovering what it is actually to be a Real boy. This movie seems like the perfect movie for me as I am a true Del Toro fan, and I've also had a lifelong interest in the Jim Henson Company. More info on this film as it emerges.

The other movie is a feature length stop motion movie, that Del Toro is not at liberty at this time to expose to us. But if you have seen Hellboy 2, you will recall that the stop-motion sequence at the beginning was quite stunning.

Also in other Del Toro news, the second Hobbit movie has been confirmed, so there will definitely be 2 Hobbit movies, 1 based on the actual book, and 1 to breach the gap between the Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings.

Hellboy 3 looks more likely to happen after the success of Hellboy 2.

Most of you are probably not aware of this, but there's a new Del Toro movie launched on DVD in the UK and soon to the USA. The movie is called "While She Was Out" it's directed by Susan Monteford, and Del Toro is an executive producer. The movie is not as good as Del Toro's own directed movies, but Monteford certainly seems to be able to build up tension. Anyway go on and check out the movie, it's well worth the watch!

That's all the news for now, I'll hand on any other news that I find!

Pride and Glory

An exciting cop thriller... well I guess it would be if I could make sense of it, but the storyline is so badly conjoined that it makes it almost a pain to watch... though there were a couple things that I did like about this movie, it had a pretty nice cast, and the adrenaline was quite good at times.

Storyline: 1 Star

Far too disjointed to enjoy the movie.

Action: 2 Stars

The action pace was quite good in parts of this movie, and some of the sequences were quite well thought out. But the one problem with it was that there just wasn't enough of it.

Music: 2 Stars

The sound track was neither superb nor annoying, just got the job done.

Acting: 2 Stars

The movie boasts of a cast with a few big names on there, and should merit a watch from the various fans represented. Though I don't think the director gave enough room for the actors' talents to shine through.

Edward Norton: 2 Stars

Norton got the main role, though it would have be hoped that his performance would have been a bit better. But I guess cop thrillers don't tend to give too much room for acting talents.

Colin Farrell: 2 Stars

Like Norton, he wasn't quite able to shine through in this movie, though there was a little spark left there.

Jon Voight: 3 Stars

Voight seemed to make the best of a fairly basic role, and must be commended on his performance. But even though so much was promised, there were still limiting factors which in the hand of a good director could have created a wonderful character for Voight.

Conclusion

Pride and Glory held a lot of promise but with an aweful storyline, it totally failed to deliver... I'm afraid this time I can't recommend this movie...

Easy Virtue

Easy Virtue is a delghtfull old Brittish comedy based upon a play. The movie captures a real sensation of being back in England in the 1920s. It's a light comedy and easy to watch. Perfect Popcorn movie!

Storyline: 2 Stars

The movie's storyline is continuous and gets the job done, there shouldn't be problems on this point... The movie as a whole is quite easy to watch!

Music: 4 stars

The music fits in wonderfully with the movie and certainly sets the tone throughout! wonderful work here!

Humour: 2 Stars

The movie's quite funny, but nothing spectacular. It more quaint humour rather than outright hilarity.

Acting: 2 stars

The acting in this movie was neither good nor bad, just got the job done.

Colin Firth: 3 Stars

Colin Firth's work in this movie was quite good and many commendations to him in this role!

Ben Barnes: 2 Stars

Ben Barnes' role in this movie wasn't particularly special, though I blame this on the director rather than on Barnes himself. Though Ben Barnes fans will enjoy this movie as they will get to see a fair amount of their favorite actor.

Conclusion
I really enjoyed this movie, and I'm sure if you take this for what it is you will be able to enjoy it as much as I did.

Good viewing!

Ghost Town

Well I guess the main selling point in this movie was that it was with Ricky Gervais, and at that, I think it excelled!

Humour: 3 Stars

The movie is relatively funny and is there to amuse. And that is exactly the effect that it gave me!

Visuals: 2 Stars

The visuals in this movie are rather plain, but that's basically all you need for a comedy movie.

Emotions: 3 Stars

This movie, however, is not all fun and games, there will be times in which your emotional strings will be plucked. The movie bares some sort of moral to it, which will make your righteous side feel like it has accomplished something.

Ricky Gervais: 4 Stars

Ricky Gervais does a wonderful job acting on the big screen, and will certainly not dissapoint his fans. All in all I rate his performance in this movie quite superb. And all praise goes to him in this movie!

Conclusion

This is a comedy movie in essence, so don't go with high expectations for an artistic masterpiece. The Movie is created solely for it's entertainment value, and will caause many laughs. The movie did not drag, and kept my attention for the duration of the movie. It's the perfect movie for a Gervais fan, and an entertaining watch for anyone who isn't!

Igor

Dreamworks' new animation is perhaps mailnly for kids, but I'm sure it will also be enjoyable for accompanying parents.

Quite an experimental movie being an animation spoofing the horror genre.

Igor really wants to be an evil scientist, when he decides he wants to create an evil monster. What he creates may be quite a bit different than he had originally expected.

As a fan of the horror genre, I found it quite amuzing being a spoof on Frankenstein. And I quite enjoyed it! I wouldn't recommend to everyone however, but if you happen you watch it, I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Graphics are good, and the movie is quite emotional at times. But don't forget that it's aimed at kids!

Quantum of Solace: An Interview With The Director

This interview did not take place, it is merely a fictional piece written solely for the lolz!

After watching Quantum of Solace, I figured it would be cool to talk with the director, as that's what all journalists do anyway...

Because of memory problems, I wasn't able to remember the name of the director, but I guess it doesn't really matter because no-one would recognise the name anyway... But one thing I did find out about him is that he was the director of Finding Neverland...

Anyway, let's get to this interview!

ME: "Hello Director how are you?"

Dirctor: "I'm great! So glad that everyone actually watched my movie!"

ME: "Well that's great!"

ME: "So how did it feel making one of the biggest movies of the year, I mean you had like 200 million dollars to make it with. That's quite a responsibility, eh?"

Director: "No quite to the contrary, when you've got a lot of money you can do almost anything you want! And," he added hastily, "You can get a lot of money yourself."

From this I gathered that the 200 million was mostly used to fund the director's retirment years, but this I didn't voice out loud!

ME: "Umm it was a great movie, but not to sound rude, but why do you think it was popular? Why did so many people go to see it?"

Director: "It's Bond!"

That's when I realised that there was something "director" was hiding from me... I gave him a long hard stare, and that's where he started to get all nervous, and started to sweat, then he broke down and confessed:

Director: "OK OK, I confess the movie is completely pointless, the only reason I became a popular director was because of Finding Neverland, and anyone would buy a movie with Johnny Depp in. But now that I have to direct without Johnny Depp, I feel kind of lost. But at last I found something else to direct that everyone will watch: anyone will watch a Bond movie! So I admit I was a cheat all through my career!"

I just smiled and nodded, we had found something to agree with after all!

OK fair enough, the movie wasn't the worst in the world, but where did all the money go? surely Daniel Craig didn't cost 100 million...?

The only graphics used in the movie was the big explosion at the end... The movie could have been made with 50 million dollars easily. You couldn't compare this to Prince Caspian which had the same budget could you? Prince Caspian has wonderful graphics and everything, this has.. Nothing.
