Bride Wars

Ok, yeah it's a chick-flick, and I'm a guy... not the best mixture, I guess... but there's something about chick-flicks that should always intrigue a guy: What entertains the other half of humanity?

Synopsis

A clerical error tests the lifelong friendship of two brides-to-be by scheduling their respective weddings at the famed Plaza Hotel on the exact same date in this romantic comedy starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. Ever since they were little girls, Liv (Hudson) and Emma (Hathaway) have bonded over planning their weddings down to the very last detail. Now, both in their mid-twenties, Liv and Emma have each found the men they want to spend the rest of their lives with. But while most of the details regarding their respective weddings don't overlap, the one thing that both Liv and Emma have always dreamt of is holding their ceremony at the legendary Plaza Hotel -- New Your City's ultimate bridal destination. Unfortunately, a simple clerical error has scheduled both of their weddings on the exact same date, at the exact same place. As a high-powered lawyer who's used to getting her way, Liv simply isn't willing to settle for anything less than perfection. And though simple schoolteacher Emma has always placed the needs of others above her own, the prospect of making any sacrifices on her big day brings out her inner bridezilla in ways that shock her unsuspecting friends and family. There was a time when Liv and Emma would have done anything for each other, but now that the two best friends are at odds over who will get their dream wedding and who will have to settle for second best, the lacy gloves are off and it's all-out war. Storyline: 3 Stars

It's a beautiful story of the relashionship of two young ladies... I didn't grow tired of it, and the story was nothing special, just the perfect popcorn movie!

Acting: 3 Stars

The actresses were well suited to their parts, no outstanding performances, but nice acting as a whole.

Music: 3 Stars

Music wasn't anything particularly special, but it was scattered with some great songs well-timed!

Emotions: 3 Stars

Not a particularly emotional movie as a whole, but it had some great moments!

Humour: 3 Stars

There are some extremely funny parts, not a comic masterpiece, but some popcorn humour...

Conclusion

I certainly enjoyed it... it was a great movie to watch if you wanted to spend a little time at the cinema... Nothing special about the movie, just a generally fun view!

My Best Friend's Girl

It's a comedy movie, and I'm not particularly crazy about comedy movies, but the whole idea of the movie is pretty funny.
Synopsis
Tank (Dane Cook) is put to the ultimate friendship test when his best friend Dustin (Jason Biggs) hires him to take his ex-girlfriend Alexis (Kate Hudson) on a lousy date just to show her how great her former boyfriend is. When Alexis finds Tank more fascinating she decides that she wants Tank, and wants to take him to a wedding instead of Dustin. Dustin tries to become more like Tank in an attempt to get Alexis back. In the meantime, Tank is trying to make Alexis like Dustin again, but Dustin is trying to mess up the wedding and ruin Tank's and Alexis's relationship at the same time.

Humour: 2 Stars
The comedy in this movie wasn't super-clever, but not bad for a no-brainer night out.
Storyline: 3 Stars
Nothing special about the storyline as such, but a new and interesting form of story telling.
Acting: 2 Stars
Quite a versatile cast, though no outstanding performances.
Music: 3 Stars
Pretty simple music throughout, though I thought the decision to use Johnny Cash's "The Man Comes Around" near the end of the movie was worth the bonus star, as it blended in wonderfully with the current tone of the movie...
Conclusion
I suppose the big question is whether I'd be ever wanting to watch it again... Well I'm afraid it may just lose on that point, but I wouldn't disuade you from using it as a good no-brainer laugh-out-load excuse for a good night out at the movies! [if any of that made sense :D]
